Day traders can buy and sell the same stock several times. To open an account approved for day trading, you need a minimum of $25,000 on any day when you trade and for 2 business days after. It is advisable to have more than $25,000
(more info about the minimum balance here) as once your balance drops below $25,000 you will be banned from trading. There is one more thing to keep in mind - taxes. You are not allowed to take a tax loss if you purchase and sell stocks multiple times.
